New STRFKR Song and Album

Last week Starfucker—that's STRFKR to you, sass mouth—announced their third album, Miracle Mile, which comes out on February 19 on the Polyvinyl label. The album was recorded out in Astoria, Oregon, that coastal town at the mouth of the Columbia, and also in San Luis Obispo, down in the Golden State, where the band has reportedly been spending more and more time. The new album is reportedly much more collaborative between the four members of STRFKR, as opposed to frontman Josh Hodges handling the bulk of the songwriting and recording, as he has on past efforts.

New song "While I'm Alive" is a laidback electro-disco number with a striking falsetto-siren hook and a floor-shuffling chorus. Maybe a little bit of Golden Earring's "Twilight Zone" in the end there, too, with the false ending and fade out? It's a great, tight song, both weird and catchy, and suggests good things to come with the 15-track Miracle Mile.

STRFKR plays the Roseland on February 27 at the start of next year's national headlining tour.
