Well, here is one surefire way to get me to blog about your record.

The new album from Ryan Francesconi and Mirabai Peart includes a track called "Not Ned [Part 1]." Naturally, I assume this song is about me, and how every other person in the world is a relative disappointment compared to me. There is also the intriguingly titled "Not Ned [Part 2]" as an iTunes bonus track.

Actually, the real meaning behind these titles may remain a mystery, as they are both part of the entirely instrumental new record Francesconi and Peart have been working on titled Roat to Palios, which was just released by Bella Union/Cooperative Music. Francesconi is a Portland based composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist who was a big contributor to Joanna Newsom's Have One on Me. He plays guitar and Peart plays violin on this series of duets. Take a listen to the title track below, a beautiful, flowing piece highlighted by the pair's immaculate and lightly Balkan-influenced playing.
