Wednesday night felt like the true kick-off to MFNW! Deerhunter played the Crystal to a completely full house. Lonnie Holley, artist and creator extraordinaire, played an opening set that was a half-hour jam with the help of Bradford Cox on drums and Josh Fauver on bass. Deerhunter's set itself was everything you could have hoped for - they played most of their new album, Monomania, and a fair amount from others. It was a fantastic show.
Other highlights from the night include Glasgow's Chvrches at the Roseland—a very impressive turn out for a band that doesn't even have a full length album out yet (scheduled for release later this month). Eyelids opened up a night of all-star artists and new projects at the Doug Fir, and Murder By Death played one of the sweatiest late night dance parties of the week at Dante's.
