Once again, your drunk and deaf beer- and music-loving friends at the Portland Mercury have paired with the Oregon Brewers Guild to put together the only and best combination beer-and-music festival around. It's the third annual Malt Ball, and 2014 is going to be the best year yet.

We'll have lots more details about this year's beer selections in the coming weeks, but for now take a look at the participating bands, all of whom are truly among the best musical acts in Portland.

Red Fang
Genders
The Woolen Men
Summer Cannibals
Your Rival
Thanks
Hot Victory
Grandhorse
St. Even
Campfires
Night Mechanic
Melville
Participating brewers include Ecliptic, the Commons, Base Camp, Fort George, Breakside, Gigantic, Lompoc, Alameda, Uptown, and Claim 52, with many more to come.

Once again, the Malt Ball will be at the Wonder Ballroom, and will take place during three different tasting/rocking-out sessions over two days: Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8. There'll be an evening session both Friday and Saturday nights, and an afternoon session on Saturday. Or you can do what I'm going to do and buckle down for the whole damn thing—and it may be wise to spread out your enjoyment of all those delicious Malt Ball beers over a couple days.

There's lots of more information at themaltball.com—check out the link to find out more about the individual sessions, and to get your Malt Ball tickets!
