As company policy dictates, if any member of the Wu comes to town, we have to be there. So when RZA, er Bobby Digital, rolled through Portland last night we had our photo champion Minh Tran on the scene to take these snaps. Enjoy!

Yep, that’s the setlist for the first My Bloody Valentine show in sixteen years.
I think I just peed myself a little.

Last night, after some guestlist drama (is there any other kind?), photographer extraordinaire Minh Tran was finally able to get inside Backspace (he snuck in via a bass drum case, since he is a former award winning contortionist) and shoot the electro madness that is Crystal Castles.
How did the pictures turn out?
In one word, awesome.
In two words, awesome awesome.
Christ, I am a terrible at my job.

I thought I was just going to stroll right into Holocene’s 5th anniversary show on Saturday night, but ooooohhhh noooo, I was wrong.
The line to get in the venue was almost a block in length, and with the delicious Potato Champion calling my name, I knew I was not going to wait.
But Liza Lubell did, and not only did she wait like a good fan, she got inside and took some great snaps of Starfucker. Speaking of Starfucker (Oh sorry, you’re at work. I mean, St**fucker. Is that right?), word has it that their upcoming full-length on Badman will be out on September 23rd. Can’t wait. Now onto the photos….

You’ve probably already seen tons of pics of the musicians at Sasquatch, but here are some pics of the crowd, the setting, and the vibe in general. Good friend of the Mercury, the wonderful Tina Whitler, took these pics. Check ‘em out!

During MIA’s set.
More after the jump!

In honor of Mr. Jones’ performance tonight at the Schnitz, End Hits presents this multimedia experience. Please, Fire up the Soundtrack for the photo gallery. And, after the music starts to roll, follow the jump and behold…
Our own Minh Tran was at the Jamie Lidell show last night and took some great photos. Check ‘em out! Lidell rocked a gold lame blazer, nerd glasses, and some swanky seersucker pants, all while singing sweet cosmic soul music.

Ro Tam took some pictures of the Beirut/Brunettes show this past Sunday and was kind enough to share them with us. Check ‘em out!

We sent our own Minh Tran to the Presets show last night, who captured tons of great photos. Take a look!

Lots more after the jump.

We sent our ace photographer Minh Tran to capture the all-age excellence of Seattle’s Smoosh and Toronto’s Tokyo Police Club (not to be confused with Tokyo’s Toronto Police Club) last night as the two bands shared the stage at the Hawthorne Theatre. Enjoy.

Here at End Hits there are few things we love more than dudes in cut-off shorts. Lucky for us, the incredible Langhorne Slim was rocking just that look on Saturday at Doug Fir, an event capture captured by the lens of Liza Lubell.
I mean, it was really hot on Saturday, how can you blame the man?

We didn’t send Jeremy Smears out to photograph Glass Candy as they played a packed East End. He was already there, and was nice enough to send us these photos. I love it when we don’t have to do anything.

Ezra, I know you love the emo and all, but turning your favorite president into a character from your My Chemical Romance fan fiction stories is one step over the line.

Once again we sent Liza Lubell to the Doug Fir for some photo excellence. Last night she witnessed the splendid twee vocal-pop of Bodies of Water, plus those Scottish sensations, Sons and Daughters. Enjoy.

Well, maybe more like “coffee table hell”, but either way, my footstool (and occasional drink holder) is going to look to absolutely naked until it holds the new book by Peter Beste, True Norwegian Black Metal. Seriously, how rad does this book look? I’d give it about Seven Circles out of nine on Dante’s Inferno scale.
As a plus, what a way to always make things awkward with your in-laws. “Hey, Mrs. D, take a look on page 41. There’s a dude slaughtering a lamb while, like, eight bodies burn in the background. It’s totally epic.”
Thanks to Gawker for the tip.

In honor of the hotshit show of the week—Cut Copy and Black Kids—we sent our entire photography team to the Doug Fir to document the occasion.
On film!
Minh Tran is responsible for the shots of Black Kids, while Liza Lubell is the one behind the Cut Copy pictures. Enjoy.

Last night at the Jupiter Hotel was the grand old Buckman Bash, a benefit for Buckman Elementary School Arts Focus that featured performances from Stephen Malkmus (that’s Stefan Malkmoose!), Shins frontman James Mercer, plus art auctions, and a super fun water slide lots more.
We sent the amazing Minh Tran to take some photos. Enjoy!
In honor of the-band-that-shall-remain-nameless who just sent me a press packet that included two images—one in front of a brick wall, and the other on train tracks—I think it’s time we discuss the art of promotional band photography.
I’m pretty accepting of all band photos—and I’m much kinder than the dreaded Hall of Douchebags gallery—but a backdrop of a brick wall, and/or railroad tracks, is just damn inexcusable.
But instead of the lecture, let us focus on the positive, the photos that work. For instance, this A.C. (Carl) Newman photo:

Now this is a great, and totally ridiculous, image. How could you not be fascinated by the simplicity, charm, and mystery—Who the hell is she? Why does he have that stunned look on his face? Are they meeting for the first time? Why the woods?—of this photo? I don’t think we’ll ever find out.
Tomorrow, we examine how to properly take a black metal band photo.
For reals.

The End Hits Photography Board of Directors put down the soft focus boudoir erotica just long enough to send the wonderful Liza Lubell to take some photos of Horse Feathers and Panther this past Friday at Holocene.
Enjoy!
