Unknown Mortal Orchestra Plays Tonight! Plus, New Lindstrøm Remix

Just in time for tonight's show at the Aladdin Theater, here's a new remix of an Unknown Mortal Orchestra song.

Norwegian producer Lindstrøm took apart UMO's excellent track "Swim and Sleep (Like a Shark)" and turned into a dizzying dance track that turns Ruban Nielson's tight songwriting into something expansive. The nine-minute track locks into an established groove for the first half, then starts toying with the boundaries, turning down corners and following intriguing threads. You won't hear much Unknown Mortal Orchestra in here, to be honest, but that's just fine. You can get all the Unknown Mortal Orchestra you need at tonight's show at the Aladdin, which is going to be a doozy.

Fundraiser for Local DJ BennyRox

Gregorio Benedicto Sanchez Aguirre—just call him BennyRox—is a longtime established DJ both locally and throughout the Northwest, often spinning with partner Nathaniel Knows as the American Girls duo. Despite living in the US for years, BennyRox has landed himself in immigration jail with the very real threat of deportation. His friends and supporters are hosting a fundraiser tonight at Whiskey Bar (31 NW 1st), where BennyRox typically DJs, to raise money for legal fees and hopefully to get him out on bond.

An online fundraising site has also been set up for BennyRox, to which you can donate here. And there's lots more information about the show tonight at the Facebook event page.

The Miracles Club's New EP

The Miracles Club—those Portland purveyors of mint-condition classic house music—have a new EP that came out just a few days ago. U&ME EP includes the title track and "Ocean Song," with a clutch of remixes to round out the release. You can hear the Nile Delta remix of the title track below.

Throw a Summer Party and Play the Lean Team's Mixtape

Summertime might be half over, but that just means it's the the part of the summer to go fucking big or go home. Don't be a dumbass: throw a party.

Now, DJs are expensive and can be a bit temperamental. But fret no longer, 'cause we have a solution to your bass dillema. Enter: the Lean Team, AKA local producers Stewie Villain and DJ Fatboy (not to be confused with the Mercury own Fatboy Roberts—little known fact: this Fatboy is Kreayshawn's touring DJ). These beat junkies have put together a compilation of inventive heavy-bass mashups featuring names all over the rap game.

Your guests will probably be:
1) WOOOOing
2) Saying "Did they really just do that to that song?"
3) Bobbing back and forth

If parties aren't your thing, it sounds decent in a pair of headphones as well. Either way, get it started.
